Weekly review: week ends on 2010-06-27

Last week

My self-discipline was not high enough the past week. I need to improve it quickly.

From last week’s plan:

Work

  • [-] Finish learning the fundamentals of machine learning: the materials are very long. I will try to finish them by next week.
  • [ ] Contact the HVAC people & companies: hmm, will need to do this soon next week.
  • [X] Review the RTSS paper [must] by Friday.
  • [ ] Read about demand-response research: I’m still learning the materials on machine learning, but I need to read about demand-response ASAP.
  • [ ] Start the process for obtaining program extension documents: must do next week.
  • [X] Work on TTA: figured out what I need to do next.
  • [ ] Work on bisim functions.
  • [ ] try to read and implement other algorithms for demand-limiting control.

Life

  • [-] Habit: sleep before midnight and get up before 8am. Get out of bed immediately after waking up. Accomplish this habit partially: went to bed around 12 but couldn’t sleep until around 12:30 or 1, and got up at 8-9.
  • [X] Habit: short morning exercise (10′) everyday.
  • [-] Habit: work-out at least 3 times (besides Kempo), either @gym or @home. Went swimming twice, but too lazy at weekend.
  • [X] Habit: drink 3 litters of water everyday (2 litters at work).
  • [X] Eat well, eat enough vegetables & fruits.
  • [X] Shop for groceries and prepare/cook food @weekend.
  • [-] Clean up my apartment for 15′ every evening on week days, and finish clean-up of my kitchen & bathroom by weekend. Almost finished cleaning up my kitchen.
  • [ ] Read half of the book [low priority]: just several pages.
  • [ ] Learn some photography [low priority]: none.

Relationship

  • [X] Outline Le’s travel plan.
  • [X] Talk to my parents at least once.

Plan for next week

The focus of this week will be, again, to improve my self-discipline.

The most important goal in this week is the habit of going to bed (or better, sleeping) at about 11 pm and getting up at about 6-7 am. I’ve just discovered that garbage trucks often work early, at 7 am, in my neighborhood and make noise so loud that I cannot sleep.  Furthermore, the temperature is getting hotter early in the morning, so getting up early makes much sense.

Work

  • Start obtaining program extension documents.
  • Work on TTA and bisim functions.

  • Learn some photography [low priority].
